NORTH NORFOLK GARDEN
An unused and overlooked corner of this North Norfolk property was transformed into a tranquil garden retreat, carefully designed to feel both immersive and connected to the surrounding landscape.
The journey begins with a series of upright oak sleepers, subtly defining the entrance and creating a welcome sense of privacy without ever feeling enclosed. Beyond, a bespoke Douglas fir-clad garden studio draws the eye, its narrow glazed gable window framing a carefully considered view down the length of the garden.
A gently winding pathway leads visitors through the space, gradually revealing each destination. First, a secluded patio provides an intimate area for outdoor dining and relaxation before the garden opens onto a generous lawn. Beyond this, the landscape transitions naturally into a wildflower meadow, encouraging biodiversity while softening the boundary between the designed garden and the wider countryside.
The planting scheme takes inspiration from naturalistic prairie gardens, combining layers of ornamental grasses and perennial planting to create texture, movement and seasonal interest throughout the year. Carefully positioned silver birch trees introduce height and dappled light, adding structure while maintaining the open, airy character of the space.
The result is a peaceful and timeless landscape that feels as though it has always belonged to its setting—offering a series of carefully composed spaces that invite exploration, relaxation and year-round enjoyment.
